Ed Siegert’s practice includes the defense of Product Liability and Toxic Tort claims. His Product Liability practice includes representation of foreign manufacturers and distributors in all aspects of litigation, including challenges to jurisdiction under various international treaties. He has defended product manufacturers in mass tort litigation, including class actions, in both state and federal courts. His experience in toxic tort cases has involved defending claims of exposure to lead, benzene, asbestos, volatile organic compounds and chemical groundwater contamination.
In addition, Ed has extensive experience pursuing subrogation/recovery claims on behalf of insurance carriers and self-insured clients around the country and internationally in matters arising from construction defects, natural disasters, explosions, fires, equipment defects, and structural collapse. He is a member of the Defense Research Institute and the Illinois Association of Defense Trial Counsel.
A graduate of Loras College (B.S., cum laude, 1983) and DePaul University College of Law (J.D., with honors, 1986), Ed was admitted to the bar in Illinois in 1986. He is also admitted to practice before the U.S. District Court, Northern, Central and Southern Districts of Illinois; the Federal Trial Bar; and the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Seventh; Third, and Fifth Circuits.
